How to measure the quality of your mattress protector
Grams per square metre
When you’re buying a mattress protectors wholesale, you might see the letters ‘GSM’ included on the description. Commonly used to measure the quality of towels, this stands for ‘grams per square metre’ and refers to the weight of each square metre of fabric.
A higher GSM generally means that a fabric is thicker, with a greater level of absorbency. (For example, a towel will typically weigh between 300 and 900 GSM). The ideal GSM for a mattress protector will depend on how heavy-duty you need it to be, but it’s always a good idea to choose the highest GSM you can. This will not only make your mattress protector more durable, it will also be thicker, meaning a comfier bed overall!
