A pillow protector sits between the pillow and the pillowcase, adding a layer that takes the bulk of sweat, skin contact and general wear before it reaches the pillow itself. Without one, pillows absorb body oils and moisture through even the best pillowcase, which shortens their lifespan and creates hygiene concerns that are difficult to address through washing alone. For hotels, guest houses, care homes, student accommodation and rental properties, fitting a protector on every pillow is standard practice for the same reason that mattress protectors are standard on every bed — the cost of replacing a pillow is many times higher than the cost of protecting it. The hypoallergenic microfibre filling also reduces exposure to allergens, which is a consideration in care settings and anywhere guests with sensitivities are expected.
